Action files are recorded scripts of actions applied to
an image.
The actions available with this edition are broken into four areas.
1/ Getting the image into PhotoShop quickly and cleanly. Covering
imports from both your scanner/digital camera driver or direct from
PhotoCD these action simplify and greatly improve on the default
settings.
2/ Cleaning the image up. By using the correct color space (LAB)
and adjusting specific plates these actions will remove image noise
or sharpen the image without leaving any digital residue.
3/ Three actions to help automate the conversion from RGB to CMYK.
These settings have been tested on hundreds of files and provide
an excellent output without the need to know what separation tables
to use.
4/ De-screening actions help convert images that have already been
printed. By working on the specific channels that hold most of the
screening information you can turn the images into something that
will provide professional output for your printer.

The included separation files provide
you with the maximum tonal range available with different printing
processes. Five different separation tables are included for your
use.
- SFC This separation table is used for sheet fed presses
using coated stock. This is the kind of press used down at your
local print shop and is best applied to brochure work that will
be done on a slow press.
- SFU This separation table is the same as above but with
less ink to account for the extra dot gain and absorbency of the
un-coated stock.
- WEBNP This separation table is for use with WEB presses
and conforms to the SWOP specifications for Newsprint stock.
- WEBC This separation table is for use with WEB presses
and conforms to the SWOP specifications for coated stock.
- WEBU This separation table is for use with WEB presses
and conforms to the SWOP specifications for UN-coated stock.
